Claire Rinet

AIDTA AAC2 B.Sc (Hons)

Principal Dance Teacher

C7730DF5-8BA1-40B9-8510-B8CE7100D8CA.JPG

I am an Associate / Level 4 member of the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA); an ACC2 certified Acrobatic Arts & AcroDance Preschool teacher; a certified iD-Company Contemporary & Street teacher;  accredited CanDo Hub SEND dance teacher; Zumba & STRONG Nation accredited; member of UDO Street Dance; licensed Street Fit® instructor. I hold an enhanced DBS disclosure certificate, dance specific Emergency First Aid certificate, a Music Licence (PPL & PRS), & appropriate insurance, as well as owner of registered Trade Marks for DanceFitMoms® and Little Wigglers™

I hold an array of IDTA/OfQual recognised qualifications including Associate Freestyle & Street; Pre Associate 1 & 2, & Level 4 in Ballet; Anatomy & Physiology Diploma; Dance Exercise Diploma; Gymnastic Dance Diploma; & ongoing work on additional professional qualifications - I am currently studying Level 4 Theatre Craft. I have received the highest grade classification for every proessional exam I have taken.

My short-medium term plans have been focused on acquiring our own studios for the dance schoo. A fantastic facility was secured in a prominent position on Kings Heath High Street, above Poundland & Clarks. The 10 year rolling lease completed 21/12/18 & following substantial internal alterations and full fit out, we launched classes 2nd March 2019.

Covid-19 had a devastating affect on the dance school, as it did many businesses, however like the phoenix that I truly feel we are, we will rise again, and lots of valuable lessons have been learned. Once we've reopened the studios Sept 2020 and stabilised the classes again, we are very much looking forward to offering in-studio and remote classes & I'd like to further develop the dance school's fitness offering.

My longer term aspirations are to pass day to day management of the dance school to one/all of my four daughters, & to become an IDTA examiner. With this as the end goal, I continue to gain qualifications in a variety of IDTA disciplines.

I have studied tap & ballet since the age of 4. After joining Leivers Dance in Coventry aged 9, I then learned modern & acro too. I assisted with younger classes from my early teens & took over management of one of the Leivers Dance branches in Coventry in 1998, which I ran until November 2014, when I gave it back to Leivers Dance to concentrate on Claire's Dance Co Moseley, which I had opened in 2011.

As well as the core class offering in Tap, Ballet, Modern, Street & Acrobatics, I have designed & deliver my own programs for Little Wigglers (parent & toddler class) & DanceFitMoms (Street Fit® based post natal dance fitness class)

My ethos is very much - classes for the masses, everyone who puts effort in gets recognition, the biggest goal is fun - I want every child, every week to have bucket loads of fun & to look forward to their next class! Although the focus is fun, I work to a progress & event schedule: preparing children for IDTA examinations, performing at local events, & also holding charity fundraising theatre performances. Over the years my dance school's events have raised £hundreds/thousands for charities such as Birmingham Children's Hospital, Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, TAMBA, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Birmingham Malawi Partnership, St Agnes Church/church hall.

During his/her time with CDC Dance Ltd, I hope to have a lasting, positive impact on them - not just in terms of dance skills, but also in feelings of self worth, confidence, compassion, and motivation.

Danielle Lawton

Dance Teacher

I am an Associate member of the International Dance Teacher Association (IDTA) and am also a certified iD-Company Contemporary & Street teacher, Street Fit® and Zumba Instructor. I hold a DBS disclosure certificate and dance specific First Aid in the Workplace certificate. I have gained a range of IDTA recognized qualifications including Associate Freestyle, Pre-Associate 1 & 2 Ballet, Anatomy and Physiology Diploma and am currently studying Level 4 Ballet.

I began teaching for Claire’s Dance Co’s Coventry branch, alongside my studies at the age of 16, having previously been taught by and danced with Claire at Leivers Dance. Disciplines taught include Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, Street and Acrobatics. I then joined the Moseley branch to teach in 2011 and have returned in 2018 after spending the previous couple of years in London.

I now plan to continue teaching a range of disciplines and focus on expanding my qualifications with IDTA and other associations.

Dance Teacher

Drew Braithwaite

I have recently completed my A levels at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls Sixth Form, & am now taking 2 gap years before heading off to university.

Since joining CDC Dance Ltd's teaching team I have attended Career Development classes & gained IDTA professional qualifications to include Anatomy & Physiology Diploma. I am currently studying to achieve the new IDTA Level 3 qualification in Tap. I have commenced the iD-Company Apprentice Teacher program for Contemporary.

I dance with the CDC Dance Ltd seniors troupe, as well as have held a place on the Shut Up & Dance SQUAD! since it's creation. I have always achieved high marks for my dancing & have won various medals as part of the SQUAD! in competitions. In February 2015 I was awarded the Modern Achievement Award and have won the fundraising award on several occasions.

Teaching Assistants

Various

We have a number of accomplished dancers who train with the CDC Dance Ltd seniors troupe, as well as have held their places on the Shut Up & Dance SQUAD! since it's creation & attend Career Development classes to develop their teaching support skills in anticipation of later teaching skills/qualifications.

All have always achieved top marks for their dancing & have won various medals as part of the SQUAD! in competitions. When Hannah entered her first solo competition entry at Dance Expressions, she scored the 2nd highest marks of the entire 4 week long competition, took 1st place in her category & 1st runner up in the championships. Miss Mia, Miss Hannah & Miss Katy were each awarded the prestigious Claire's Dance Co Dancer of the Year in 2015, 2016 & 2017.

In September 2016, Tobious moved from his previous secondary school & took a year 10 place at BOA (Birmingham Ormiston Academy), specialising in dance, and in 2015 was awarded the Claire's Dance Co Achievement Award for Gym.

After both winning the 20th Anniversary Awards, Tobious Hadley & Hannah Brereton were invited to take on more responsibility and commence the iD-Company Apprentice Teacher programs, with Tobious becoming our lead for Street and Hannah is the lead for Contemporary.

At CDC Dance Ltd, we feel it is important to equip individuals with more than just skills in dance.

Miss Claire is a firm believer in the value of also teaching skills which will help you in school/college/uni/when going out into the world of employment.

Our voluntary & also, paid, Dance Coach program allows dancers from Inters & Seniors an opportunity to support younger classes, gaining skills in lots of different areas, not only dance, choreography and teaching, but also in areas such as time management and people skills, building a sense of confidence and responsibility as we go.

This is how Miss Claire & Miss Dani started out, as was the case for most dance teachers I know. Even if a career in teaching dance is not the end result for everyone, it looks great on CVs/applications etc & I always take great pleasure in providing references for future endeavours.
